It's time for a few days of fun in the sun in Fort Lauderdale. Join us as we explore south Florida's beaches, wildlife, shopping, restaurants and more! And if you're feeling inspired, make sure you check out our Fort Lauderdale vacation packages to help you get started with you trip planning.

Day One: You touch down at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) around noon, collect your luggage and make your way up and over the bridges to your home base for the next few days: Fort Lauderdale Marriott Harbor Beach Resort & Spa. The location can’t be beat – right on an expansive beach with amazing ocean views. You step out onto your room’s balcony and breathe in the ocean air, then head down to the beach to feel the sun on your skin and enjoy the warm water. The pool scene here is fantastic, too, and you stretch out on a lounge chair and enjoy a cool drink before taking your towel to a shady hammock nearby. You sway in the breeze, and actually nap for a few minutes before returning to your room for a shower. Later, you walk down to the resort’s Sea Level Restaurant And Ocean Bar, where the fish tacos with pico de gallo and mango relish really hit the spot. Your visit to Fort Lauderdale is going to be a great one.

Day Two: This morning you sleep in a little bit and enjoy a leisurely breakfast at Riva, then make your way over to Aloha Watersports on the beach fronting the resort. Your rental of choice? A Wave Runner! You don a life vest, nod along as you receive a few simple instructions, then hop aboard and make a series of high-speed runs up and down Fort Lauderdale Beach. The rolling waves provide some nice little “ramps,” and you even manage to get a little airborne before returning to the beach to work on your tan. As evening approaches, you take a cruise along the city’s (slightly) inland waterways and come to understand why this place is called the “Venice of America.” Your captain describes the sights as the yacht slowly passes Millionaire’s Row, which stretches from Tarpon Bend all the way out to the Intracoastal Waterway. Multi-million dollar homes line the banks, and you enjoy the lights and scenery on a warm, balmy evening.

Day Three: Today you’re headed inland for an adventure in the Florida Everglades. With 1.2 million protected acres, there’s really nothing that compares to this unparalleled landscape, and you’re excited as you board a surprisingly comfortable airboat and glide out across the water. The views are impressive, and you keep your camera in hand to snap photos of the vegetation that rises from the water and – of course – the local wildlife. You run across alligators and other inhabitants in this, their natural habitat. Once you’ve returned to solid ground, you check out a gator wildlife show and other reptilian exhibits, explore a jungle walking trail, and cap off your visit by spending a few moments holding a baby alligator. It makes for a fun afternoon, and on the way back you post a few of the day’s pictures to Instagram, then look over a map of the Everglades and marvel at its sheer size and how it dominates the southern region of Florida.

Day Four: Your flight leaves for home this evening, so there’s still plenty of time for some shopping before you go back to the airport. Las Olas Boulevard is Fort Lauderdale’s premier shopping destination, and it’s safe to say you’ve never seen quite the variety of shops and boutiques here. You start with a casual brunch at Louie Bossi's Ristorante and leisurely browse through a handful of fine art galleries before picking up some warm-weather fashions. Thankfully, the items will fit within your not-too-overstuffed suitcase. Back at the resort, you catch a few more rays of sunshine before reluctantly gathering your things and departing Harbor Beach. Removed from the hustle and bustle of some of Florida’s larger cities, you’ve found Fort Lauderdale to be just the right pace, with plenty of room to relax and a variety of fun things to do and see. You could get used to these carefree days with South Florida sand under your toes!
