Planning a trip to Waikiki Beach on the island of Oahu? Be sure to enjoy some of the cuisine that makes Hawaii such a unique place. And while there’s certainly a lot more to do here than just eat, you’re definitely going to want to fuel up for that surf lesson, shopping, outrigger canoe paddle, or hike up Diamond Head. Or maybe you’re just looking to celebrate another fun day in “Paradise” over a superb meal. Whatever the occasion, here’s an assortment of Waikiki dining options that are within easy reach of the Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa, and are guaranteed to provide a taste of the Pacific Rim.

d.k. Steak House
Cuisine: Steakhouse

Located right on-property at the Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa, d.k. Steak House is nothing like your average hotel restaurant. Here, you’ll dig into a juicy, dry aged steak while enjoying views of what’s arguably the world’s most famous beach. The flavorful, mouth-watering steaks are complemented by amazing side dishes like the jumbo shrimp cocktail, an enormous baked potato, and creamed spinach. d.k. Steak House is frequented both by locals celebrating a special occasion, and by visitors interested in a truly great steakhouse. Nobody leaves hungry!

Roy’s Waikiki
Cuisine: Asian Fusion

During the past 20-plus years, Chef Roy Yamaguchi has become world-famous, and now has 31 restaurants spread throughout the globe. It’s safe to say that you’ll be hard-pressed to find a dining experience that combines the flavors, textures and colors created by Roy and his Hawaii “ohana.” The menu brings together locally-grown ingredients with Asian spices and European sauces, helping define today’s Hawaiian culinary experience and reflecting a broad array of influences on Hawaii life in general,. Roy's Waikiki features the finest seafood from the waters off Hawaii’s shoreline – Onaga, Opakapaka and Ono – in addition to a wide range of shellfish, sushi and fresh meats.

Duke’s Waikiki
Cuisine: Seafood

Oahu is known as “The Gathering Place,” and one of the most popular gathering places on Oahu is Duke’s Waikiki. Located just a short walk from the Waikiki Beach Marriott, Duke’s mid-beach location enables diners to watch the surfers just out front at Canoes, while enjoying delicious seafood, steaks and prime rib. The atmosphere is magical, with fresh, fragrant leis being strung near the restaurant’s entrance, and musicians moving from table to table playing traditional Hawaiian favorites. Bookend the meal with an all-you-can-eat salad bar and the signature Hula Pie, and you’ll understand why Duke’s is at the top of the list for both visitors and Oahu residents alike.

Rainbow Drive-In
Cuisine: Hawaiian

It’s no secret that folks in Hawaii love their plate lunch, and one of the best plate lunches in the Islands can be found at the Rainbow Drive-In. Located in Kapahulu on the Diamond Head-side entrance to Waikiki, this drive-in shows no movies but specializes in great, hearty food at very affordable prices. Try the Shoyu Chicken (served several times per week) with two scoops of white rice and your choice of macaroni salad or slaw, then spend the money you just saved on a t-shirt to show your friends back home you truly found a local treasure. Rainbow Drive-In was featured in Guy Fieri’s 2013 book “Diners, Drive-In and Dives: The Funky Finds in Flavortown,” and is just over a half-mile from the Waikiki Beach Marriott.

Nobu Waikiki
Cuisine: Japanese

It took some time for Chef Nobuyuki Matsuhisa – better known simply as “Nobu” – to bring his acclaimed dining experience to Waikiki, but for fans of the brand it proved to be worth the wait. Located on a relatively quiet street a block away from the hustle and bustle of the city (but still within easy walking distance of the Waikiki Beach Marriott), Nobu’s innovative “New Style” Japanese dishes include Black Pepper Cod with Balsamic Teriyaki, Bluefin Toro Tobanyaki and Scallop with Jalapeno Salsa. The savvy clientele appreciates the hip vibe (check out the sea urchin-inspired chandeliers) and the unique, artistic presentation. Nobu provides a culinary adventure like no other.
