Four Sun and Fun-Filled Days in Curacao

Come explore the Southern Carribean Sea with us this week for a Curacao Vacation:

Day One: You touch down on the island of Curacao, grab the luggage and head to the beautiful Curacao Marriott Beach Resort & Emerald Casino, where traditional Dutch influences seem to mix seamlessly with the sun-drenched warmth of the Caribbean. Wasting absolutely no time (or sunshine), you head out onto the white sand with a cool drink in hand, then giggle a bit as you run down the beach and dive into the warm, clear water. As afternoon turns to evening, dinner at Portofino serves as a tasty precursor to a couple of hours of gaming in the Emerald Casino, which offers poker, blackjack, craps, roulette, slots and more. It’s been a fun-filled first day on the island, with more to come.

Day Two: This morning you set off from the shoreline in an ocean kayak, crossing Caracas Bay while heading for protected waters and passing sites like Fort Beekenburg, which was originally built in 1703 to help the Dutch ward off rival French and British fleets. You make landfall again on a deserted stretch of beach – which turns out to be a combination of sand and fine coral stones – and you’ve now left the crowds behind and arrived at some of the top snorkeling sites on the island. The natural underwater beauty is astonishing; a nice reminder of why you chose Curacao in the first place! Eventually, it’s time to kayak back to the pier, and as you glide back through the water, enjoy the unique scenery of this amazing place. Be sure to cool off one more time with a refreshing swim. You’ll sleep well tonight.

Day Three: After yesterday’s fun adventures both on and in the water, today you’ve made a choice to stay on dry land. Start with a Jeep safari, which is a great way to experience the fascinating landscapes, exquisite wildlife and spectacular views of Curacao. Christoffel is one of the planet’s most impressive national parks, and touring it in a 4x4 Jeep just makes your visit that much more exhilarating. Later, spend some time strolling through Willemstad, with its pair of historic districts and striking colonial architecture. The city has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage site, and features lovely, narrow streets with shops, museums, dining and more. Be sure to take plenty of photos, since there’s no other place quite like Willemstad anywhere else in the world.

Day Four: Start the engine, gun the throttle of your jet ski and get ready to explore some more! Today you’ll power past mangroves, bays and coves before making a stop at a gorgeous beach, where an inviting lagoon welcomes you for a relaxing swim. While en route, check out the dazzling assortment of yachts, estates and vacation homes. Then grab your snorkel and fins to explore a nearby tugboat wreck that’s now inhabited by morays, schools of colorful tropical fish and other marine life. The jet ski feels basically like driving a sports car on water, and you take it all in, now thoroughly convinced that Curacao is truly a paradise for sun-seekers and watersport enthusiasts. Back at the resort’s Seabreeze swim-up bar, you admire your tan – tomorrow you’ll leave this amazing place and be the envy of your friends back home.
