Between the crystal clear water, sunny skies and lush vegetation, Kauai, Hawaii is about to blow your mind! Discover all the Garden Isle has to offer — from zip line adventures to snorkeling with turtles and the majestic Kuhio Highway’s scenic turns. Take a look at our Kauai vacations and get ready for a once-in-a-lifetime trip.

Day One: You touch down at Kauai’s Lihue Airport (LIH) in early afternoon, quickly collect your luggage and pick up a convertible rental car, then make the five-minute drive to your home away from home for the next few days – Kaua’i Marriott Resort. You make your way to your room, step out onto the lanai and admire the amazing island and ocean views while a warm breeze blows through your hair. It’s a short walk down the path fronting the resort to the beach activities center, where you rent a two-person kayak and make a couple of big loops around Kalapaki Bay before retreating to a lounge chair next to the resort’s gigantic pool. And later, as the sun begins to set, you take a barefoot walk back down to the beach to visit Duke’s, the iconic restaurant where locals and visitors alike end their day. You raise a glass of Kona Longboard Lager in celebration – your vacation on Hawaii’s Garden Isle has officially begun.

Day Two: Kauai’s Na Pali Coast is one of the most pristine stretches of coastline in Hawaii, and you’ve been dreaming about it for some time now. So you wake up early to meet with the crew at Blue Dolphin Charters. You depart from Ele’ele on a spacious power catamaran and admire the cobalt waters, keeping watch for playful dolphins while sipping some Kauai coffee. Soon, the grandeur of the Na Pali Coast comes into view, with its rugged cliffs — or Pali – rising nearly straight up from the coastline and revealing magnificent waterfalls and sandy coves. The clear, warm water looks inviting, so you strap on a snorkel and dive right in, immersing yourself in the serene, underwater world with its colorful schools of tropical fish and green sea turtles. You take a trip down the catamaran’s water slide and soak up the sun before grabbing a refreshing mai tai and enjoying lunch. An unforgettable day!

Day Three: This morning you enjoy a nice breakfast at the resort before heading up into the hills below Mount Waialeale, which rises more than 5,000 feet above sea level and is one of the wettest spots on Earth. You don a helmet and hop into an inner tube for a downstream journey along a canal full of tunnels, "splash zones." You’re beginning to understand why Kauai bills itself as Hawaii’s “Island of Discovery” and decide your next adventure will be to Waimea Canyon. With the convertible’s top down and the sun shining, you head west to the charming town of Hanapepe, where you stop for a scoop of Lappert’s ice cream before forging ahead to Waimea, where you turn “mauka” (toward the mountains) and head up the winding hill to the rim of the canyon. From here, it’s nearly 3,000 feet to the bottom, and the dazzling mixture of white clouds, blue sky, green landscape and red dirt hillsides reveals nature’s majesty in full display. Truly spectacular!

Day Four: You drove west yesterday, and today you’re headed north along the scenic Kuhio Highway. You stop for a late breakfast in Kapaa and wander around town for a few minutes before continuing on, with the ocean to your right. You arrive a little while later at Princeville Ranch, where no less than nine different zip lines await. You’ve signed up for the “Zip Express” and in no time are literally walking off the edge of a lush valley, flying over treetops to the other side and soaking in the scenery along the way. The final zip line called “King Kong” spans 1,200 feet and is a total racetrack! Still buzzing with adrenaline, you jump in the convertible and drop down into the charming town of Hanalei. You pull into a spot at the beach park and swim out toward the middle of Hanalei Bay. The water, sunshine and views put your senses on overload. Your visit to this island has been all you hoped for — and more.
