South City Kitchen
South City’s claim to fame is the way it serves “Southern classics with a sophisticated spin.” This adorable bungalow-style restaurant is right downtown, 2 blocks from the hotel, nestled among the city’s skyscrapers. Be sure to make a reservation as this place fills up quickly – and for a good reason! The food is amazing, the service is amazing and so is the atmosphere. If you are a friend chicken fan, and even if you are not a fried chicken fan, you have to try South City’s famous fried chicken, it’s unforgettable. Other favorites include, the garlic-sautéed collard greens, and the fried green tomatoes, or if you’re looking for something with more of a contemporary twist, consider the pan-seared Georgia trout with country ham butter or the BBQ pork scallion hoecake. Many regulars claim this is their favorite spot in Atlanta, so don’t miss out!
Lure claims to serve the “best fresh seafood in Midtown Atlanta” – so if you like fresh-from-the-sea catches; this is the place to go! Lure is casual, yet sophisticated and offers nearly any seafood dish you could think of. If you like oysters, this is a great place to grab them, start your meal off with a dozen as well as one of Lure’s signature cocktails. Other menu favorites include the grilled octopus and pork lettuce wraps, the fish tacos, and the sea scallops. If a member of your party does not like seafood, there are also yummy chicken and steak options. Finally, if it’s not too humid, grab a seat on the patio! Lure is only a block and a half away from the hotel.
JCT. Kitchen & Bar
JCT is a mile and a half from the hotel (about a 30 minute walk, or a 5 minute drive) and is totally worth venturing out of the neighborhood for this place. Brunch is a great meal to grab at JCT, but anything else works just as well – and no matter the time of day, make sure to grab a seat on the patio! This place has all the classics from fried oysters, to shrimp and grits, to short ribs, to mac and cheese, and so much more! Cocktails are also creative and fun and come highly recommended, and don’t forget to save room for dessert; the fallen chocolate soufflé cake is a favorite. Diners say that JCT “does not disappoint” and is a great way to complete any Atlanta vacation.
Steam House Lounge
You can’t miss the Steam House, it’s bright blue and really stands out among the busy midtown area, and it’s only a third of a mile from the hotel. This is a great happy hour spot to grab a drink on the upstairs balcony after a long day of explorations. After you’ve settle in with a cocktail, get ready to eat. Steam House has just about every single seafood menu item that you could imagine: raw bar, oysters Rockefeller, crab cakes, Atlanta-famous lobster bisque, trout, snapper, shrimp and grits, fish tacos… just to name a few. Come hungry, leave happy – this place has it all!
BurgerFi is small-scale chain that has three restaurants throughout the city of Atlanta, one of which is in Midtown and is .3 miles away from the hotel. BurgerFi is a gourmet burger joint that offers all natural ingredients – plus veggie options too, and hot dogs! Sides are simple, fries and onion rings – or a combination of both and an array of toppings from salt + vinegar to parmesan + herb (the owner’s favorite!) to chili to cheese. And then you can, of course, please your sweet-tooth with dessert options including shakes, concretes, floats, and sundaes. BurgerFi is a great place for a quick and delicious meal and spoiler alert: get ready for the sweet branding they put on their buns – you’ll want to grab a picture of this cool twist.
